Travel to Geneva

Plane: Geneva International Airport (Cointrin) is served by many carriers. Check the airport website for the numerous connections. Several low-cost carriers are also available, for example, EasyJet or flybe.

Train: Geneva is well connected to the European train network and the trains are reliable. You may also consider flying into Paris, Basel, or Zurich, and come to Geneva by train. Geneva can be reached from either city in about three hours. For train connections check the Swiss rail web site.

Car: Geneva is a small city with many cars. Parking is a problem and can be costly. Some hotels offer parking facilities. With some luck, you may find a free unlimited parking spot, see also local hints.

Visa: While Switzerland is not part of the EU, it is part of the European Schengen/Dublin zone. Participants from most European countries will not need visas, but other participants may require one. If in doubt, check the Swiss visa website or with a Swiss Embassy. Should you need an invitation letter, please, leave us a note during registration or contact us, as indicated here.

Housing

We recommend to use the following hotel:

The room rate is approximately CHF 100 per night for single, double, or triple occupancy. This hotel is advantageous due to its comparatively low rates and its close proximity to the school site. It can be reached by walking (about 20 min) or by the tramway No. 15 (3 stops, no change). For room reservations, use the hotel web site.

Obviously, you are free to use any other hotel in Geneva or its surroundings. You may reserve online through ebookers.ch, booking.com, or other online agencies. Note that hotels in Geneva are relatively expensive. Comparatively low rates are also offered in the Ibis budget Geneva hotel, the Geneva youth hostel, or City hostel Geneva. These hotels are further away from the school site, however.

Important: Each participant has the responsibility to organize his or her own housing. The school organization is not involved in hotel reservations. Please, reserve your hotel early.
